This tells you that NFC, or near-field communication, is active on your device. One common icon that often confuses users is the N icon. There are a host of other icons you'll see in your status bar from time to time. If there is an alarm symbol on the right-hand side of the status bar, that means you have an alarm coming in the next five, 15, or 30 minutes depending on your settings. How to decipher between sent, read, and delivered messages This update is currently rolling out to users with the RCS app. Now, Google Messages is rolling out a change that alters those status messages and turns them into icons. If it was delivered, you would see “delivered” under the message. Those little status messages would tell you if your messages were delivered successfully or even seen by the recipient. One thing that remained pretty constant was the read and delivered notifications. Within the last few updates brought on by the adoption of RCS, the Messages app has changed slightly with every transition.
